hi all! this is my very first blog entry, and i'm very excited to share everything i've got planned for this week!

firstly, tomorrow morning, i'm going to be getting a minor oral surgery to put in a dental implant. i should be hurting for a couple of days or so which makes me kind of nervous, but i will heal up okay in no time, i'm sure! i will be at my parents' place recovering til i feel 100% better; thankfully i have the next few days off of work!

i'm primarily excited because on thursday i will be taking a solo trip to disneyland! i haven't been since the last week of may, so i'm really looking forward to going back and nerding out over all the stuff i missed. disneyland, especially disneyland history, has been a lifelong interest of mine and i always get super hyped to be back there. i'm not 100% sure what i have planned, i hope to just feel out the crowds while i'm there and kind of do my own thing. i will be by myself, after all!

my primary to-do is to ride radiator springs racers a bunch of times through the single rider queue. i always try to hit this ride 3-4 times per visit, and i'm very happy that it's open once again since last time i went it was closed! it's one of my favorite attractions of all time - cars land as a whole is a big happy place for me. i love walking around there at night and around the lighting ceremony. times and places like that remind me of why disneyland is so special to me beyond nostalgia - the sheer attention to detail makes it a work of art. i feel like the entire park is a huge life-sized installation piece and i can just feel the craftsmanship everywhere i go - especially in practical effects as seen in rides like the haunted mansion. i could talk your ear off all day about that ride!

the last couple of days i've been thinking about the peoplemover and old tomorrowland, particularly that of the 70s-80s era. i wish so badly i could have experienced it in its true glory - funnily ironic that the ad on the top of this entry is for new tomorrowland, possibly my most despised park expansion/revamp ever. i am hoping that tomorrowland goes back to a retro future aesthetic at some point in my lifetime. it needs that extra tlc SO badly!!! it has the potential to be great once more, but for now i guess it'll always be that lame, dated corner of the park.

if i could time travel to any time or place, it would 100% be to the disneyland of the past solely to experience the old attractions like america sings, the skyway, peoplemover, etc. there were many flaws with the park in retrospect, of course, especially when it comes to problematic theming in lands such as frontierland and adventureland (many of which still remain in place). i do not condone the business practices of the walt disney company, nor do i idolize it as a brand, i merely appreciate the art involved in the parks and attraction imagineering. this fascination feeds into the part of me that loves exploring the park and looking out for signs of attractions that are no more - for example, the old mine train through nature's wonderland tracks found in frontierland. you can see the old tunnel outside of big thunder mountain's exit, and even a jumping salmon in the pond! there are still sleeping bear noises all around over there that haven't been removed after all these years. it's very fun to check out!!

i will be sure to upload pictures from my trip afterwards! paddington is coming with me again!
